Our Journey
Our aim was to challenge the outdated, disparate and complex solutions that have been considered the norm for the last 10 years and we did it.
Certero entered the ITAM market to develop a product to improve automation, data quality, reporting and usability, which was problematic in the market at that time. This was achieved with AssetStudio V1 & V2. Certero then diversified, developing a multi-award-winning PC Power Management product called PowerStudio and a self-service password reset product called Passworks.
Certero became one of the leading PC Power Management solution providers and with AssetStudio V3, Certero also entered the SAM market.

,
Certero realized that having a single product doing both ITAM and SAM, without the ability to only purchase one or the other was too inflexible. This meant Certero needed to decide to either split up AssetStudio into two separate products, one for ITAM and one for SAM (still Wintel focused) or take the very bold and hugely ambitious decision to develop a new approach to the current ITAM/SAM market which had now moved on from 2007.
The market has progressed from focusing on Wintel vendors to focusing on ALL assets, including new markets that had arisen i.e. Mobile, Datacenter, Self-Service App-Store as well as being positioned to adopt future new markets. Certero spent the next two years developing the unique unified platform and then the core ITAM and SAM products to cover Wintel and Datacenter. This included the associated infrastructure i.e. Unix, Linux, zLinux, iMac etc., all the various virtualization technologies and connectors to other leading ITAM tools as well as driving automation in their SAM product to unrivalled levels.
Certero has been successful at looking at a market that is fragmentated and chaotic in its approach and managed to bring ‘order’, as an option to replace the ‘chaos’. By unifying their products that cover an increasing spectrum of IT Hardware and Software Asset Management disciplines, Certero helps to simplify and automate processes.

Now that Certero had proven technology leading products for Wintel, Datacentre vendors and platforms, it was time to continue the journey by developing products for the more recent markets that had gained presence, namely, mobile and self-service app portals as well as continually improving the products already developed based on feedback from customers.
With the passion Certero had for proving world class support to their customers came the realization that organizations needed assistance in filling gaps in their resources and skills with regards to ITAM and SAM, especially with Datacentre.
It was a simple decision to create a Services business to provide world class services to match the highest levels that our support had achieved. Finally, it was time to start the growth journey by starting a new business in USA to cover North America to compliment the business Certero had created in Australia.

By leveraging its ‘legacy free’ architectural advantage, Certero has been able to become a ‘Software-as-a-Service’ company; able to provide ALL products as SaaS, without having to compromise or lose ANY functionality. Again, another unique achievement and a first when considering the wide scope and capability of Certero’s product portfolio. Providing a single common UI/UX and a normalized data source from day one, right out-of-the-box and with a simple to use but powerful BI reporting engine, we believe this was and still is, a real game changer.
With quality, accurate data at its core and critically without gaps, the Certero platform means that organizations can now have data transformed into meaningful information, providing previously unknown knowledge and supporting better decision making, critical to enabling digital transformation.
With the launch of the ground-breaking ‘Vitado by Certero’ Cloud Asset Management product accompanying release of Certero V8, Certero now starts on a journey to repeat the innovation of unifying and demystifying on-premises asset management, to now bring ‘order to the chaos’ of the realms of SaaS and Cloud IaaS/PaaS.
We have done it once for on-prem, we will do it again for SaaS and cloud, unifying both worlds.
