Upon engaging with Certero it was soon clear that they could achieve these goals with Certero as a single trusted partner, directly delivering both the technology solution and SAM services expertise that they need.
Certero’s ‘Technology-led Services’ approach meant that they were supported by Certero’s in-house licensing expertise as well as full, unlimited access to the Certero unified platform used to deliver the services.
This meant that they could rely on Certero’s licensing knowledge and resources in parallel with having visibility and insights into their full hardware and software estate, including Oracle and IBM in real-time and all through a ‘single pane of glass’ solution. With access to all of the underlying data they were confident that they were making the best decisions for their business.

Having a trusted partner singularly responsible for the success of the project was also beneficial and helped to maintain clear communication of goals, processes, responsibilities and status. Certero’s approach created a unified understating of progress and value achieved, as stakeholders on both side and at all levels have full transparent visibility of the reports and dashboards from the Certero platform.

The Certero Solution

Opting to focus on Oracle first and using Certero for Oracle (a formally verified Oracle LMS/GLAS technology solution on the Certero platform) the business worked with Certero to identify compliance risks. Certero’s in-house consultancy team were then able to significantly reduce potential exposure, by applying licensing knowledge to mitigate some of these areas.

Particularly relevant was the potential exposure caused by Database Options and Packs usage generated by 3rd party and Oracle Applications. Certero consultants were able to guide and advise how to approach licensing in these areas with minimal financial outlay.

Data insight from Certero also allowed the customer to gain visibility of their Fusion Middleware estate, identifying where products were running or installed and creating an optimization plan to reduce future core consumption.

Outcomes

An initial £2m Oracle risk-mitigation was achieved within two weeks providing rapid time-to-value and ROI for the customer. Certero also created a future plan to optimize Oracle licensing that will save the organization a further £11m, driven entirely by the data Certero provides and the managed service expertise that accompanies it.
